Dear Reese,
Happy 14 Months, baby girl! It will be odd when I lose track of that, but it seems that around 2 years old, people switch to years rather than months. Months make sense right now, every few weeks feels like a growth spurt and another developmental leap.
Today, we enjoy summer. Bayside Coffee for breakfast, where we run into Danny’s family — the little boy who had his adoption finalization on the same day you did. We haven’t seen them since December, but you’ll be in the same room at daycare soon. After breakfast, while MorMor and Cappi chat with Mary and Jim, you lead me around the closed shop and harbor park for a half hour, content and curious. Walking better every day.
We go to Bailey’s Harbor mid-morning to walk around the Farmer’s Market and play on the great playground there. You remain fascinated by the big kids running around and will often to stand still and stare at everything around you, taking it in.
We hang at the cottage for the rest of the day, with a post-nap excursion to Troup Park. It’s a little cooler today, a nice breeze, and the sun came out after an overcast morning. The air quality is even the best it’s been in a while. Feels like summer.
You put on your explorer hat again and we walk around the beach, up the park, and up the stone steps. There’s a lot of tree damage from last weekend’s storm here too, but I mostly think about how I used to run up these same steps when I was a kid, when they were the backyard of my grandparents’ cottage.
MorMor and Cappi are with us, as they usually are on weekends, and very picturequely walk you to the water together. We are very lucky to have them.
Love,
Mama
