Dear Reese,
You spend the afternoon in the big kids’ room at daycare today. Big kids, as in the next room up, where you will be transitioning to over the next couple of weeks. Because you’re a big kid now. It’s hard to believe. You did great, the teacher reports. You liked sitting at their little chairs at the little table. You even napped on that room’s schedule.
I know none of this ahead of time, but it seems like the teachers have a plan, so we’re rolling with it. They say they’ll probably do the same thing tomorrow. I think you’re ready to be with kids who are running around since you can run around now too.
Like this evening when I sit on the bench and you run around the playground, climbing up the slide part way and sliding down all by yourself. You give me a smile and then toddle over to me, hauling yourself up on the bench beside me all on your own. Big kid, indeed.
Love,
Mama
