Dear Reese,
I’m off today and you’re at daycare. I feel a little guilty about it. But you like to see your friends and teachers, and I need to run around to Sturgeon Bay for a car appointment.
Linden, Cara, and I make candles while they do my oil change and look at the AC. I make a candle in the theme of a character in my current D&D campaign — Midnight Magic and Bayberry and Fresh Cut Roses. Earthy and floral with a fighter’s edge.
Your aunt Jenn meets us for lunch at Get Real, and then we go to Graham Park by the water and play cornhole in the heat. It turns out none of us are awesome at cornhole, but we get better.
This evening, you play with Linden’s water bottle cap — taking it off, putting it back on, learning how to twist it. Again and again. It’s as mesmerizing for you as it is for me.
After you go to sleep, we play D&D. We’ll play again tomorrow night. This is what vacation is for.
Love,
Mama
