Dear Reese,
You were in your first parade today! Your daycare had a float and invited us to join so we did a Mama-Daughter outing to Sister Bay this morning. We’ve both never been to Fall Fest before — it’s packed. The streets were packed from curb to building all through town for the parade.
You weren’t so sure about the float at first, even though you got to see all your favorite teachers on a Saturday. It was a little overwhelming for you, but I stayed close, and you got to have your first lollipop ever, a strawberry Dum-Dum, which you loved.
Once we got moving and were on the actual parade route, you smiled and waved a little and took in the crowds.

Afterwards, we watched the back half of the parade before tracking down some lunch. I ended up getting us food from Savor and then very precariously balancing an open container with a pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, and baked beans on the top of the stroller while I pushed you up the steep hill to my coworking space.
I figured a quiet space to eat and reset would do us good — and it did, but also, you were pretty wiggly and toddler-ish. I had to pick up a lot of pulled pork off the floor. Next time we’ll eat at the restaurant and then go to resest.
Cappi and his friends end up joining us, and we did another pass at Fall Fest in the afternoon. This time, you fell asleep, all the music and chatter turning into white noise.
In the late afternoon, we played outdoors at the cottage, peeking in on the finished plaster at our new house and then exploring the barn and the loft.

All in all, I melted by the end of the day, and I think you did too. But it was lovely to spend the day with you. Tomorrow, we’ll be a little more low-key.
Love,
Mama
