For Good

Dear Reese,

I see Wicked: For Good at the Sturgeon Bay Cinema with your Aunt Jenn this afternoon. It’s her second viewing. I used to be a purely premier night moviegoer, but things have changed since I moved back to rural Wisconsin. Now, with beautiful you in the world, it is a rare treat to see a movie in theaters at all. This is my second one this year.

It is a very good movie, or a pair of movies, that I know I will be thinking about for a long time. A powerful love story. And “For Good” is one of the best Broadway songs ever written. My thoughts will linger on the final scenes and that final shot.

I stand by our no-screentime policy right now, and I will be cautious with screens as you grow, but I am excited to share a love of movies . . . of story . . . with you. In the future, we can go to premieres together.
