Forever Family Day
December 19, 2025 — 10:17pm
Dear Reese,
One year ago was our Forever Family Day, the day your adoption was finalized. It was snowing, and you had a doctor’s appointment that morning where you got your shots.
It was the best day of my life.
Coincidentally, it snowed today, and you had your 18-month doctor’s appointment (and yes, got more shots).
Perhaps we’ll find a way for us to celebrate together in the future. For today, we make pizza on naan (that you don’t eat), and I pour you chocolate milk with dinner.
Today, I have a busy day that’s strangely social between work holiday events and D&D. I run my work D&D session and my home game — it’s fun to play on Fridays, but doubling up prepping and running games is a little too much for my energy reserves. Though both games were a lot of fun.
I also won our work Wicked trivia. I know much more about Wicked than I thought I did, more than the musical theater nerds at work, it seems. It makes me want to show you The Wizard of Oz when you start watching movies. I was very scared of the flying monkeys as a kid.
And your doctor appointment went well early this morning. You were such a champ, as always.
Love,
Mama
