Dear Reese,
I get down on the grass and show you how to get up — crawling, then off my knees, squat, and stand. You watch, then immediately do it yourself. You’re still wobbly, but I’m impressed. Your teacher said they saw you do it at daycare today too. There are some other kids in your class doing it all the time, so you’re paying attention.
At the end of dinner tonight, you feed me grapes. I cut some up for your tray, but you mostly ignore them. When you’re done eating and I’m not, I bring you onto my lap. I offer you a grape slice, you take it, then shove it into my mouth. You have so much fun with this that I let you do it with the rest of them on the tray. I like grapes anyway, and it feels so good to laugh with you.
Today, I went to Green Bay to select flooring for our new home. Plank, and, tile, and carpet. Then we chose paint colors for the walls. I picked a light green color called Sea Spray for your room. I wanted you to have a color different than any other room in the house so it could feel like your own space. I know it doesn’t matter to you now, but it might someday.
Well, someday, you might want it fuchsia or bright orange or rainbow, and we’ll redo it all anyway.
Love,
Mama
