Dear Reese,
The nicest days of summer come at the very end. We go to the beach again this morning and spend most of the day getting outside as much as possible.
You bike again and get pushed around on “Reese’s Racer” — the pedal go-kart Cappi got for you (and Kai) when you’re a little older. You’re too young to reach the pedals but old enough to hold on if we push you. Cappi figures out how to do this with a walking stick, so we don’t have to bend down. Of course, eventually you’re more interested in getting down and pushing yourself.
You also push a wagon around after seeing Kai pull one. And then we put you in a wagon and Kai pulls you around, which is very cute. The hit is when Cappi makes the wagon train and pulls you both down the road while blowing the train whistle.
Time is moving faster the faster you move around. And you are getting faster, darling. No more are the long days when you were a few months old and the best I could do to entertain you was to lie you on a blanket outside and point out leaves. Now, we just need to go outside.
(I am nervous for winter evenings when it’s too dark to go outside, but we’ll figure it out in a few months.)
You and Kai are both toddlers, so there’s the occasional whining and near-meltdown over sharing a toy, but on the whole, you are a happy little girl. And you continue to amaze me with how much you understand and how much you can do already. You are paying attention, always.
Love,
Mama
