Dear Reese,
I run around today for Green Bay appointments and all-day work meetings, so MorMor and Cappi help with daycare pick-up and drop-off. But I bring home Culver’s — a butterburger, applesauce, and chocolate milk for you.
You are a big fan of the chocolate milk.
We go outside after dinner — I’m desperate to move a little after driving and sitting all day — and you ride your bike next to us as we take out the trash. On the playground, we swing for a while and I tell you the story of the three little pigs (you didn’t seem that into the song I tried first, but I’m not sure the story was any more engaging).
Then you demonstrate how you can climb the whole slide by yourself up to the platform and then slide down. You are rightly very proud of yourself. I hope I remember the smile you gave me after you slid down on your back forever.
I breathe. It was a busy day. Weighty. I-get-work-calls-after-6-pm kind of day. So it’s important that I can spend time on my first job — being your mama. I show you how to lift up fallen leaves and throw them in the air. It’s seasonal and simple and good.

Love,
Mama
