Mama-Daughter Saturday
November 8, 2025 — 9:10pm
Dear Reese,
We have a Mama-Daughter Saturday. A quiet one, with the cold and my current energy level, but hopefully a good one for you. We haven’t been to the library in a month, so we go there for an hour this morning. You play in the children’s room, but then have fun walking around the entire building. You only try to pull books off the shelves a few times.
It’s getting cold for real now, and I want to be inside by the fireplace all day, but I know it’s important to get outside no matter the weather. We manage it twice today, pre-library and post-nap. We go swinging, play in the sandbox, and take a bike ride down the road. You want to stop by our new house each time, which I’m always happy to do.
The day passes with us tooling around the cottage. We color. We clean up the coloring when green ends up all over the window. We read. We play with trains. You whisk flour and water together promptly try to eat it. You chase the cats. You play the piano. You get into everything you can. It’s mostly okay. You are mostly content. You are mostly sweet and patient when I can’t do everything at once. You take a two-and-a-half-hour nap, and I rest.
The most upset you get with me is when I get you in the car seat to and from the library. Which, to be fair, is pretty upset. It’s like wrangling Arthur or Melin into a cat carrier — a feat of strength and patience.
Love,
Mama
