Milk Drinker

Dear Reese,
Today, your teacher tells me that you’re one of the best milk drinkers in your class. You drink a lot of it. It’s relieving and surprising to hear, because after we switched from formula at a year, I haven’t felt like you drink much milk with me at all. Reportedly, your cousin still has a bottle’s worth before sleeping, and you like to take a couple of sips then call it a night or a meal at dinner.
Apparently, you’ve been getting all the dairy intake you need at school. It just goes to show there’s always going to be a world where I miss some of your origins — a world where you grow and become you with your own preferences and experiences, while I work at a computer screen.
I’m sad to miss it, but it’s special too — I’m glad you're having days with other kids and adult educators. It makes me feel like there’s a village raising you, and that’s how it should be.
Love,
Mama
