Oregon Trail

Dear Reese,
We are getting too much snow too early this year. It’s going to be a long winter. Driving you home from daycare on snowy roads at night is a test of focus and anxiety management. Today, we listen to my D&D podcast, and you are mostly okay with it.
You’re still hurting a little, but by all reports, you had a good day. Though I could tell the lunchtime Tylenol had worn off by the time we got home.
Today, I play Oregon Trail as a team builder with other managers over lunch. It’s my idea, they have a free version of the online computer game, and we got into small teams to see how far we could get (and how many wagon members stay alive). It’s a nostalgic thing for me, and many others. We used to take turns playing it during free time in 5th grade.
I also played D&D tonight. We’re in the middle of a combat where I’m playing the pirate/dragon-hunters who are having their butts kicked by the player characters. And that’s a lot of fun too, though I’m yawning by the end of it.
We are both still catching up on our sleep after this week. You slept beautifully through the night last night, so hopefully the hurt from your sores is going away. I have an unrealistic wish that you are never in pain again.
Love,
Mama
