Dear Reese,
My early Mother’s Day gift to myself is staying up too late playing D&D. I don’t think I’ll regret it, despite the inevitable early morning wake-up. I’m starting a new long campaign, the first one I’ve started on my own from scratch, and we’ve been getting deep into character creation and co-world building to drive the potential story.
Tonight was session zero, which expanded beyond the normal session zero checklist to doing loose roleplay to create a shared backstory for the characters — basically a prologue for the characters, twenty years before the actual campaign. It was fun and collaborative (and a little sad since we were playing out a tragedy).
More of this! My brain screams. It is exactly the social connection I’m looking for right now.
I had a great connection today with you too, darling. And it was your first time going bowling! We went to a fundraiser for your daycare up at Sister Bay Bowl. Someday you’ll be old enough to bowl yourself, so instead we played pass the baby while we took our turns. However, you did briefly wear the cutest little bowling shoes.
Love,
Mama
