Dear Reese,
Cappi has started feeding you water from the spray bottle he uses for the indoor plants. I am enabling this. You seem to love it, and it’s too funny not to. But if someday you refuse to drink water from a normal cup we’ll know where the problem started.
The video was from last night but the spray bottle came out again over dinner this evening and you opened your mouth wide for me to spray water on your tongue (and over your chin and cheeks) again and again. It seemed to go well with the avocado toast you’d just finished.
We had a snow day today. It stopped your Mama A from visiting with your big sister (they’ll hopefully come by tomorrow) but it meant Cappi dug out the infant sled I used as a baby. MorMor wrapped you in a blanket and we took turns pushing you in the sleigh up and down the road in the late afternoon. I asked Cappi where he got the sled and he said it was from an antique shop and was probably made in the 50s or 60s.

We had a good, quiet day after a restless night — more for me, than you. Predictably, two days after your temperature, my own temperature started to climb last night. I was too achy to sleep. Feverish with a racing mind, I didn’t drift off until 2 am . . . and you stirred for the first time 90 minutes later. With a cobbled-together four hours of sleep, I was worried about today, convinced I’d be struck with a fever for another weekend. But the fever broke by morning and I miraculously felt normal today, if not tired.
Our bodies are doing their best to fight this barrage of winter and daycare illnesses. I’m hoping the short-lived fever last night, although frustrating at the time, is a sign my immune system is getting used to it. I hope yours is too. I know you’re sick of me wiping snot from your face every five minutes. In the morning I find it dried onto your upper lip and stuck in your hair. There are a couple of reasons we take baths every night right now.
Love,
Mama
