Dear Reese,
A high-wind afternoon storm caused a lot of damage this afternoon. Thankfully, not to our condo or car, but there must’ve been twenty trees down at Rocky Shores. Huge ones, roots torn from the ground, lying across the road. A couple did fall on condo roofs. And cars.
On Mariner Road, our neighbors had a bunch of their roof shingles blown off and a large tree fell on top of it. MorMor and Cappi have been helping them this evening, though you and I went over to take a look at the damage. They are the Eagle Scouts of the road — bringing over tools and a backup generator.
All to say, we are without power and spending the night at the cottage with their nice generator. We were with your Mama A and big sister when the storm came in. It was fierce and sudden and shook the windows and swayed giant trees. We moved to your room, which wasn’t taking the brunt of the wind, and had a flashlight dance party until it was over.
Before I came to the cottage, we walked around part of Rocky Shores to see the damage. Wild and scary, and it made me hold you close all evening — that is when you weren’t pushing your little pink chair all over the cottage (with only a couple rolling tumbles)
.
Love,
Mama
