Dear Reese,
We go swimming with Linden and Cara at Troup Park. They are visiting us all week, so I kept you home from daycare today to be with us. It’s swampy and hot, but we still get three walks in. I’m drenched in sweat most of the day, and you get crabby and sad a couple of times. Probably because of the heat.
But swimming in the bay in heaven. Feels like the best of summer. The water is the warmest in recent memory but cool enough to be a relief. We get a water ball for you to reach for, and I twirl you around in the waves. But mostly you are content to vibe with us as we chat and enjoy the vibes.
Back on the beach, I hold your hands as you walk and make friends with strangers. A couple tells me they remember when their daughter was that age — she’s seventeen now. They say what everyone says: time flies. So far, it’s true.
Love,
Mama
