Dear Reese,
You lock in a new milestone today. The foreshadowing from earlier this week has fully manifested. Twice this morning I look to see you sitting when you’d been on your belly a minute before.
By mid-morning, MorMor sends me a picture of you on the baby monitor. “Tummy to sitting confirmed!” (So we really did lower your crib just in time, phew.)
By this evening, you are showing off for me and MorMor. Tummy, to knees, and backing into sitting. Then back to tummy all over again. Incredible progress in a day. It’s like when you learned to sit independently around six months, suddenly you just had it.
Your mobility has skyrocketed this week. I swear you are so close to crawling with the way you can get on all fours so easily. The coordination to stay there once you start moving is still a puzzle. I watch you do it, just a step, before your knees flop wide again. There’s a lot of screeching during these endeavors as you move with an almost frantic energy around the playmat and over our legs. It could be the teething is bugging you.
Despite a little breakdown when you demand an evening nap that I wasn’t planning on, you are all smiles today. And you’re content to sleep in my arms in the bright cottage kitchen while I eat my pizza and drink my de-alcoholized wine, so we both get what we want.
Love,
Mama
